Most of the companies offer the below mentioned options for checking the status of policy throught the policy number.

how can we check the policy status
Just call the company and ask them.
You cannot. Policy number is mandatory for any formal transactions pertaining to an insurance policy. How would the insurance company know which policy you are referring to without the policy number? Talk to the insurance agent who helped you with the transfer. He should have a record of the transaction and the policy number as well.
To get the LIC policy status, you can visit the official LIC website and log in to your account using your credentials. Alternatively, you can call the LIC customer service helpline and provide them with your policy details to check your policy status. You can also visit your nearest LIC branch and inquire with a representative about your policy status.
Check your Policy Document
Only the customer i.e., the policy holder can find the status of an insurance policy. If you are the policy holder, use the policy number and your personal details and create an account in LIC's website. Once you register there, you can check the status of your policy online. You can even make premium payments through that website.
