Remove starter and bench test See if you are getting power to starter
the starter. if you know where it is you can hit it and see if this helps. you need to see if you have spark at the plugs if so check to see if you have fuel the starter only turns the engine
Defective starter, or a problem with the flywheel. You need to check the starter and then remove it and check the flywheel.
get your starter check I had same problem it was faulty starter
Check the 97 Eclipse starter solenoid. Also check the wiring for any loose connections. Since the battery and starter are goor, these are the two most likely problem spots.
Check the starter solenoid and the starter itself. Either one could be stuck and causing the constant engagement. Check the flywheel for damage after you fix the problem.
You should check the battery if it is good. Try checking to see if the power is getting to the starter when you push the button if not it might be a falty relay .If power is getting to the starter (12 volt . If less check power going into your relay ) starter may need to be replaced or repared.
Several things could be the problem, the first thing i would check is to see if there is excessive oil build up on the starter. This could indicate an oil leak that is basically drowning the starter and causing it to overheat and fail. Also the starter solenoid could be failing and heating up. Lastly, check to see if there is a heat shield on the starter and make sure it is still solid and in place. Hope this helps, and good luck.
It is the problem of Starter or Choke so you should check the starter and the choke. If they are damaged , you have to change these things.
check starter
Short the two battery leads together, this will bypass the solenoid and should turn the starter. But this does not answer the question....it just lets you see if the starter works. How do you CHECK the solenoid to see if it is GOOD or BAD???
First of all check wiring - the easiest would be to check is there a current on the starter when you turn the key. It's very likely that you have wiring problem, and your old starter is fine.
You should check the soleniod by the battery mounted on the fender if that is not the problem the it is probably the soleniod on the starter. Had the same problem on mine until i tap the soleniod on the starter.
