How do you clean rust from your car's charger or cigarette lighter?
August 29, 2012 4:10PM
Use an electronic cleaner & spray inside the outlet to clean it. Make sure there is no power at the outlet when you're doing this. If it is extremely rusty you may have to replace the outlet.

Where is the 2006 Honda Accord cigarette lighter fuse?
There are two fuseboxes for 2006 Honda Accord. The cigarette lighter one is located inside the car on driver side labeled "fusebox", not the one under the hood. Open the correct one the diagram is on back of cover. It is #9, 15 Amp, labeled "FR ACCS". There is no label says "cigarette lighter" on any Honda cars.

What is the function of a cigarette lighter?
A cigarette lighter is a device to light cigarettes. They are typically electric or gas-powered. Disposable cigarette lighters burn butane gas. Some reusable lighters use butane, while others use lighter fluid which is poured into a cotton wadding. Car cigarette lighters and wall-mounted cigarette lighters are electric. Electric lighters heat a coil of wire, and the cigarette is placed against the heated wire as the smoker puffs. In cars, lighter sockets provide other functionality, and can be used to operate laptops, charge cell phones, play games, watch television, power lights, and more.

Why would the tail light fuse blow when you turn on the park lights on a 1993 Pontiac Sunbird?
If it's anything like my 92 Sunbird, (and they do have the same inherent problems), they are leaky cars (water wise) and it's probably wiring. There's a grounding problem it sounds like. I used to have a similar problem in my 92 when I used the cigarette lighter, it would blow the taillight fuse everytime. Replaced the cigarette lighter and problem went away. See, the cigarette lighter was rusted and the ground was faulty, so it would ground to the nearest fuse (which was taillight fuse) overload it, and blow the taillight fuse. Your parking lights are probably not grounded properly and it is doing the same thing my cigarette lighter was. Is it just me or are these cars just like the old Ford Tempo's and Dodge K cars, very reliable for the most part, but very leaky?!
