How do they clip dogs ears?

If your talking about the surgical procedure, a vet needs to do that. This is done when they are puppies. Great Danes often have this done when they are puppies to make their ears stand straight up.

-Just to clarify, there is absolutely no medical reason to clip a dog's ears. This is mutilation done for the pleasure of the owners and I hope someday this custom will no longer exist. It has caused many people to brutally mutilate their pets themselves without anesthesia, disinfectant, or follow-up pain medication in order to sell puppies for more, or just because that's the way they want their dog to look, or they thought that's how it's supposed to be. My pitt-bull has full floppy ears and he's a gorgeous animal

If you are considering having your puppy's ears cropped here a few important things to know. First, your puppy will have to undergo this procedure sometime between nine and twelve weeks of age. He will probably be required to stay a minimum of one night in the hospital following the procedure. Usually The cut to the pitbull is not like the cut for a doverman. Clips to shut close the arteries are needed until the ears are done with the procedure. It is not how important the procedure is, but how the care after it will be. Afer the procedure, the pups ears will be wrapped in cotton and taped until they stand. They should stay up this way for 10-14 days at a time. When you schedule your appointment for a status check, be sure to plan to remove the wraps two hours before the appointment, or plan to leave the puppy for a few hours. This allows the ears to relax just a bit and show the vet how to compensate for how the ears want to fall.
