# How do you compute velocity?

Average Velocity = (change in position) / (elapsed time)

Instantaneous Velocity = [limit as elapsed time approaches 0] (change in position) / (elapsed time)

a=v-u/t accelleration is velocity minus uniform velocity divided by time

Kinetic energy = 0.5 x mass x velocity^2. Your answer should be velocity.

Just need time & distance. Foe example 60 miles in an hour provides velocity.

The question is incomplete. Frequency of what? If it refers to electromagnetic waves, you won't need even frequency to determine velocity (in a vacuum), because it will always be c (the speed of light). You can compute the speed of other kinds of waves if you know the frequency and wavelength, but not from frequency alone. The formula is frequency x wavelength = velocity If the waves are electromagnetic, and you have only frequency, you can compute the wavelength using the same formula.

Calculate the initial potential energy (PE = mgh). Assume that all of this gets converted to kinetic energy, and solve for velocity (KE = 0.5 mv2).

That does not compute. Please compute this formula before the end of class. My calculator will no longer compute.

by using trig. So draw a triangle out with the given information. for example 1 line is 12m/s, another line is Um/s (u for unknown) and one line is resultant velocity. add your angle in and use trig to work out what you want.

Speed, or velocity, is computed by dividing the distance traveled per unit of time (i.e., V=d/t).

Compute definition, to determine by calculation; reckon; calculate: to compute the period of Jupiter's revolution.

Compute means to figure out the question and get an answer.

Computed is the past tense of compute.

the present tense of 'compute' will be 'computing'

You first need to acquire more data. Since Velocity is equal to Displacement traveled divided by Time (v=s/t) if you know the distance traveled by the object and the time it has taken the velocity can be computed. watch those units though. if your measuring in meters and timing in seconds your velocity will be in meters/second so this needs to be converted if you are looking for miles or kilometers/hour
