You would have to have a coupler made to connect one crankshaft to the other. Then you would have to find out at what degrees the crankshafts should be for a smooth operation. Of course, they would still have separate ignition and fuel systems.

You would also have to make sure that engine #2 (whose crank shaft connects to the transmission but sits behind engine #1) is able to handle the torque output of both engines combined.

No, there never has been a V6 Corvette The 1953 through '55 model years had inline 6-cylinder engines. V8 engines (265 cu. in.) were an option for 1955. From 1956 through today, all Corvettes have had various V8 engines from the factory.

No. Nissan Maximas have - and have always had - a six cylinder engine. All engines from the second generation 1984 - 1989 have V6 engines, while an inline six or inline six diesel could be had with the first gen Maximas.

dodge/ram has used two v8 engines in its trucks since 2004, the 4.7 and the 5.7 hemi... before '04 it was the 5.9v8 (360 cubic inch)... the diesel engines in dodge trucks are built by Cummins, and are all inline six (I6), none of the diesel dodges have v8 inches. therefore there was never a 'magnum v8 cummins' since there was never a v8 cummins, hope that helps!

AnswerV-configuration engines were designed because they are compact and can be lightweight. A inline 6 cylinder for instance requires more room because of its length; a V6 can be shorter and therefore lighter, more compact and more powerful. V engines also allow cylinders to be close together so they can share rod journals, which also saves weight.
