How do you convince your parents to let you be emo?

Find some cool pics of emo hair or something from magazines or internet and show ur parents. Or better yet, promise you'll do something for them if they let you have emo hair or something. Tell them that you are growing up and you have to make your own dicision, and also, tell them that soon enough they wont have the ability to control you, therefore you might aswel let me have a emo haircut.

All you really can do is tell them that you need to express yourself. It might help to act happy when dressing emo because a lot of people think Emos are always depressed. let them know you are serious about it and aren't gonna change your mind in a week an become a prep. be emo anyway if they still say no. if you are strong enough and refuse to change your parents will realize that they're being stupid. Eventually they will focus on things that ACTUALLY MATTER.

Educate yourself and them on what "Goth" really is. Your parents probably think you are going to attract bad company, do bad in school, or, even, join a cult. Let them know that "Goth" is a fashion and musical movement, not a personality.

tell them that its your decision because it is your hair. Its easier to convince them to let you go darker or just get highlights because they dont damage your hair as much as bleach does
