This depends on how accurate you want to be. I have a book that has a series of factors for different types of soil. You simply multiply your bank yards by the factor. Unless you are working with something unusual a factor of 1.25 usually gets you pretty close. The only publication that I have seen that has this information in it is "Moving the Earth"
