I think a VPN is what you need here. Though you might want to look into a proper server. 43 clients is alot for just a kind of VPN workgroup. You'd need somebody on the client side to create the VPN connection. Also what OS's.. all recent windows OS's or is it a mix of linux, sun, mac etc? If is the case, interoperability may cause some headaches...
