If you are using internet Explorer (IE), 'click' on the Tools menu item at the upper left of your browser window. Select from the list, Internet Options. When the Internet Options settings window appears, it opens onto the General tab by default. You will notice that you can manage three separate browser settings on this tab, each of which is responsible for the way IE manages the relative aspects of your browsing activity (**Below, we'll be dealing solely with the third setting, History):

1. HOME - the website onto which your browser opens upon launching IE;

2. TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES - the cache or, the folder which houses "snapshots" of each website you visit in file form, as well as Cookies. Cookies are small text files that visited websites leave behind on your computer, which store information about how you navigate through a website--which links you 'click'--which in turn helps the website provide you with relevant content, such as specific advertising that may appeal to you the next time you visit the same website. Some cookies even store usernames and passwords (ever wonder how, when you tick the box marked, 'Remember me each time I come back to Blah.com' after entering your username and password on the Login page for the first time, the site is able to log you in automatically for all of your subsequent visits? All of your visits, that is, until you delete your Temporary Internet Files folder, as well as All Offline Content.

By the way, this deleting process is a very good habit to get into because an over-full Temp. Files folder will slow down your browser's page loading time, websites with Flash presentations, and other streaming content may hang from time to time, as well. AND (finally)...

3. HISTORY - the folder that houses separate folders for each of the websites you visit. When you click on the History icon--the clock with the counter-clockwise green arrow above the address bar in IE--a pane will open on the left hand side of your browser window with a list of folders. Within each of the folders, you will find a cache (loosely, a bank of stored data) of all the pages--with their corresponding URLs and active links--you clicked through during your visit to the website. Your Internet Options' settings will determine how far back in time your browser's History will be available. ***The default for Internet Explorer is 20 days. You can always add or subtract days to your History's 'memory' when you select Internet Options from the Tools menu item at the top of your browser. Next to the number of days--20 by default or another quantity if you elect to change the setting--you should see a radio button marked Clear History; click this button. This will take care of your question. I hope this was helpful!

Choose internet options toolbar and delete browsing history from drop down. Alternatively, type something in the addressbar, then delete by pressing the delete button. You can also download CCleaner from Piriform.com, to delete all browsing history, and then some other stuff.
