How do you determine why dash panel lights on Buick Regal 2000 aren't working and odometer light and clock are working?

Check all your tailights and headlamps- somehow it seems when 1 burns out it turns off the dash lights- same as the blinker will blink faster when the turn signal is burnt out.
I HAD SAME PROBLEM ON 2002 REGAL, REPLACED HEADLIGHT SWITCH, 45.00 AT AUTO PARTS, AND 10 MINS TO INSTALL, BINGO,ALL DASH LIGHTS& GEAR SELECT LIGHTS ON NICE & BRIGHT. REMOVE SIDE PANEL DRIVERS SIDE DASH,NEXT TO SWITCH, 2 SCREWS ,AND REMOVE SWITCH, PLUG& PLAY REPAIR.
