How do you diagnose a problem with your '96 Chrysler Sebring LX yourself?
Vehicles that are around 96's and up have an OBD-II computer link up. This palm held pluggin unit costs around $125 - $150 ish online or at the autopart stores a bit more.
The beauty of it is it will diagnose your check engine light problems and tell you what it is so you know what to have replaced. It also resets the light and clears the codes.
I purchased one and it has been invaluable as it works on any vehicle 96 and up. From Chevy to Ford to Porsche to Rolls Royce.
I have a 2007 chrysler sebring 2.7l that will not start without spraying starter fluid in the air filter Does anyone know what the problem is?
Using a multimeter and spark tester will help find the source of a voltage problem on a 2000 Chrysler Sebring. Having a repair manual on hand will troubleshoot the system, but many electrical problems require tedious sifting through wiring to find the faulty short or ground which is causing an issue.
My 2002 Chrysler Sebring has 154K miles on it and the front end rattles when it goes over bumps. When I jack the car up and push in and out and side to side on the wheels their is no movement. Nothing seems to be lose when I pull on the front end. I had the same problem on my 2002 Sebring Lxi Sedan. Problem was worn swaybar linkage and bushings. I had the linkage…
What may be causing a 1998 Chrysler Sebring convertible to stop your turning the key in the ignition to start it and what are your repair options?
You got a 96 Chrysler sebring convertible and the battery is keep on going bad any ideas This will be third one replaced?
I have a 1996 Chrysler sebring convertible and I have had a new battery go bad three times in two years. Chrysler dealers across America could not solve the problem. I wound up stranded in a little town called Olds, Alberta, about 60 miles north of Calgary, Alberta, on a weekend in a hail storm and my car would not start. The nearest Chrysler Dealer in town fixed the problem in a couple hours. The…
The Chrysler Sebring is the worst car on gas milage i have ever had and for being a 4 cylinder i will never buy one again I recently purchased a 2003 Chrysler Sebring, 4 cyl. 73,000 original miles, great condition inside and outside. I paid $5300! So far, it gets really good mileage! The only problem I have encountered, so far, is that, after idling for several minutes, the car dies out. Seems to be…
What does it mean if your 1999 Chrysler sebring jxi will go in reverse fine but wont get out of 1st gear going forward?
WHY won't my 1996 Chrysler Sebring run then just quits running for no reason about three months ago i replaced the crank pos switch?
I had the same problem 3 times on my '97 Sebring. Twice, I replaced the crank position sensor with the (lower-priced) after-market sensors. They worked for a while, about a year and they go bad again. Finally, I replaced it with a Chrysler part, and have had no problem since. I hate to say it... but for the difference in price, this is one part I would highly recommend spending the extra money.
Depending on the mileage, it may not be a smart investment. These cars have a terrible problem with timing belts breaking and this seemingly small problem can lead to bent valves thus requiring a complete engine replacement. If you research this particular problem you should get the answer your looking for. Hope this helps! Dawn
What do you replace on a 2004 Chrysler Sebring LXi to prevent the digital display from flickering when your low beam headlights are on?
I have a 1999 sebring and i had to replace my speed sensor. there are two sensors one located on the transmission that's the internal one and the other one is just off the drivers front wheel well, you have to pull the tire off. On the transmission, there are two,one input and one output. If the speedometer operation is the problem the output sensor is the problem is located on the driver (Left)side of…
Yes, it is staying on because there is a problem with your SRS. This is not a component that should be worked on by an amateur. Serious injury can occur if you make a mistake. Take it to a professional. The dealer commonly attributes this problem to the seat belt tensioner on the drivers side. There are other complaints that this does not fix the problem.
