How do you dial phone numbers in France using an Australian mobile phone on roaming?

The most reliable way to dial any telephone number on most mobile phones (all GSM mobiles, and most others) is to enter the telephone number in full international format, beginning with the plus symbol and the correct telephone country code (one, two, or three digits, never beginning with zero). The telephone country code for France is +33, and you must drop the trunk prefix 0 from the beginning of the French domestic telephone number. For example, Paris's area code 01 becomes +33 1.
