usually you can remove the relay ,or the fuse Be advised that as day time running lamps are classified as safety equipment disabling them MAY BE A CITEABLE OFFENSE in your state as they are factory original equipment.

The new Polo (2011) does not have "Daytime driving lights". It is fitted with "Permanent driving lights". The lights on cars with Daytime running lights can be switched off by using one of the stalks on the steering wheel, or by removing a fuse (daytime driving lights are on a seperate light circuit) Permanent driving lights cannot be switched off. If hte fuse is removed it will disable your headlights and backlights altogether. The only way to disable it is to remove the rotary light switch and cover the pin marked "TFL"
