Thankfully mine just died in the up position. Replacing them is a bear.
1. Turn the steering wheel to the far left position. 2. Disconnect the negative cable from your battery. 3. Remove the right inner fender splash shield (4 plastic studs, 3 screws) 4. Remove Phillips head screw retaining the antenna to the fender 5. Disconnect antenna lead and motor wires 6. Remove the two bolts from the lower bracket 7. Carefully pull the antenna and wiring assembly doen through the wheel opening

∙ 2015-07-15 21:35:02Check your RPO codes. If it has an U75 than it had a power antenna. If it has RPO code US6 it has a painted fixed antenna. There was only one style power antenna used from the factory.
Remove the wiring harness from the bottom of your 1987 Chevy Corvette power antenna. Remove the power antenna retaining nuts. Reverse the process to install your new power antenna.
Just unplug the power wire below the motor or the fuse in the fuse box..
It isn't an easy job as you have to remove the inner finder panel.
Select the CD option on the radio, will CD is playing hold down the RDS buttom until the antenna goes down.
It is under the hood at the right rear of the engine compartment at the antenae.

First physical pull the antenna all the way up, clean the antenna very good with a degreaser, then lubricate it with a silicon spray. Open the trunk, unplug the power to the antenna, start your car with the radio turned on, stop the engine, plug the power source to antenna back in. Try it now, if you still have the same problem, either the relay is stuck and needs replacing or the antenna motor is shorted and needs to be replaced.
