How do you disable or repair a power antenna on a 1989 cutlass?
Thankfully mine just died in the up position. Replacing them is a bear.
1. Turn the steering wheel to the far left position. 2. Disconnect the negative cable from your battery. 3. Remove the right inner fender splash shield (4 plastic studs, 3 screws) 4. Remove Phillips head screw retaining the antenna to the fender 5. Disconnect antenna lead and motor wires 6. Remove the two bolts from the lower bracket 7. Carefully pull the antenna and wiring assembly doen through the wheel opening
First physical pull the antenna all the way up, clean the antenna very good with a degreaser, then lubricate it with a silicon spray. Open the trunk, unplug the power to the antenna, start your car with the radio turned on, stop the engine, plug the power source to antenna back in. Try it now, if you still have the same problem, either the relay is stuck and needs replacing or the antenna motor is…
I think there are only a couple screws that hold it on a couple mounting brackets inside the trunk. You'll have to spin off the nut on the outside of the car that holds the antenna on there, too. The antena has a big wire that goes to the radio and another wiring harness that operates the power mast.
1992 cutlass ciera radio antenna whirrs and bobs up and down after the engine is turned off The battery will run down unless I unplug the battery How do I fix this?
Try turning the radio off before turning the car off. If this doesn't work, check the assembly at the base of the antenna for a sensor switch for gunk and clean it off. Don't ask me where it is, because I don't have the schematics for the antenna assembly on a 1992 Cutlass Ciera handy at this moment. If this doesn't work, the easiest "fix" is to wait until the antenna goes all the way…
'98 Taurus Power Antenna Motor On my '98 Taurus SE, the antenna motor is near the rear fender on the driver's side. Remove the trunk liner and you find all sorts of things. I think the motor is or is inside the black box between a brace and the quarter panel. It is also possible to find a replacement mast. I found a source on eBay and paid about $15 for just the mast /…
I can confirm that the 1993 Caprice Classic also uses Fuse 1 for this, which is painful because now that the power antennas are failing in the - let me keep trying to lower the antenna for the next week while I'm parked in the garage - mode, and you can't get through the wheelwell to get at the motor or under the dash to locate a wire, you need to disable the interior lighting…
the power antenna is located on right front. I jacked my car, and removed the right front wheel. Then there are some small screws which are keep the inner fender plastic. unscrew them. You can reach with your hand the power antenna. Unplug the power wire, and the antenna wire, and unscrew those small (8mm) screws which are holding the antenna in its bracket.
The power of the signal would be high or low if you are transmitting in omnidirection antenna as compared to directional antenna?
The power of the signal, as perceived by the receiver, will be lower with an omnidirectional antenna. This is because the omnidirectional antenna is transmitting in all directions, while the directional antenna is transmitting in only one direction. Think of the directional antenna as a lens, focusing proportionally more power in a smaller space.
How do you repair a 1982 Corvette power antenna if the motor doesn't work but when taken off and tested will raise to the up position but not go down?
An antenna is a completely 'passive' device. It can't radiate more power than you put into it. But if you know what direction you want it to favor, you can design the antenna to take the power away from directions you don't need, and concentrate it in the direction you want. Antenna gain means the strength of the antenna in its best direction, compared to a theoretical ideal antenna that's exactly equally good in all…
How do you remove the power antenna motor and antenna from a 1998 4Runner Once this is done is it possible to install a euro style antenna?
How do I get the power antenna on a 1998 Mercury Sable - Ford Taurus to go up and Is there a button I have to push or something?
The antenna powers on/off with the radio - no separate control. If yours isn't moving, one of the 2 things has happened: The antenna motor has failed The internal nylon 'tape' has broken - very very common to these antennas See "Related Questions" below for more details, including how-to repair / replace the mast.
If you aren't a master mechanic, take into the dealer and get them to do it. They will just hook it up to a computer and disable them digitally. If you are a mechanic, use the obd1 to disable the auto power locks. alternatively you could disable the power supply to the auto locks making them manual lock.
With your radio in the On position, turn your ignition 1 click to engage the power antenna. Then gently pull out old antenna as it raises. Feed in new antenna while your assistant turns the radio to the Off position. the motor will naturally pull in the new antenna...or go to the carwash and convince them their mechanised mildew-removing mmaham are the guilty party, and they owe $35 for a new antenna.
