How do you disable the factory kill switch in a 1997 Ford Ranger?
Get a repair manual for your truck, because you will need to cut the wires out of the ignition switch, and bypass the alarm.
How do you fix the light switch that has the cruise control and turn signal switch on a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire SE?
Did you try turning the dimmer switch to a lower setting, sometimes the dome light will stay on even if the door is closed if the switch is set to high. But if the dimmer switch is set propertly, and the light remains on for a few minutes, the problem is most probably a defective relay. There are 3 relays on my 97 Ford Ranger, and I have not found out which controls the light…
Try checking any ground wire related to the alarm. On my 1997 Ranger XLT w/4L V6/5 speed auto/it was a intermitant hood switch. When the switch lost contact, the alarm system triggered as though the hood was opened. Try jumping the switch with a wire. Take care not to touch the body. If the problem goes away, then replace the switch. This took my dealer's service dept. 3 tries to find it. Hope this helps.
On your 1997 Ford Ranger : There is a cold fill mark on the engine coolant reservoir With your engine cold you should have a 50 / 50 mix of preferably distilled water and GREEN color antifreeze ( meeting Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A ) in your engine cooling system up to the cold fill mark of the reservoir ( that's what it had in it when it came from the factory )
