NOTE: If installing a new power steering pump, the unions that are supplied fitted to the pump should be removed and retained for future use. Using the special tool, install a new O-ring seal onto the steering gear to power steering pump union. Push the new O-ring seal onto the special tool. Locate the special tool onto the union and install the O-ring seal. Install the PSP switch. Remove the power steering pump from the vice. Install the power steering pump. Install the lower retaining bolts. Connect the power steering line. Lower the vehicle. Install the power steering pump upper retaining bolts. Connect the power steering hose to the power steering pump. Connect the PSP switch electrical connector. Install the accessory drive belt. Fill the power steering system. If you have a 2.0 SPI engine: Removal Detach the accessory drive belt from the power steering pump pulley. Using a
Disconnect the steering column from the power steering box in the engine compartment (there is a seal and it will not pull out easy). Remove the cover from underneath the steering column inside the car. Disconnect all wire connectors. There is a bracket underneath the column - remove the four bolts from it. There is s boot seal where the column goes through the firewall - it may also contains a bolt that wiil need to be removed. If it has a column shifter, you will need to disconnect this as well. Make sure when you slide the new steering column into the power steering box that the tires are straight and so is the steering wheel. If you forget, the steering wheel will not be straight while driving.
The process of changing out the steering column is not very complicated, but is time consuming. You will need to disconnect the column as well as the steering shaft and wiring to make the change.

This requires a power steering pulley puller. This puller is designed to remove and install a power steering pulley without damage to the pulley and or pump. Attempting to do this without the puller will result in damaging the pulley or the pump or both.

i don't have a 2000 but it should be the same as any vehicle: disconnect your battery. disconnect the serpentine belt. you need to put a socket wrench on the front of the tensioner in order to slacken the belt. disconnect the wire connectors on the alternator. unbolt the alternator. install is reverse of removal. you may or may not have to transfer the pulley from the old one onto the new one.
