In order to find your download on a mac you can do one or all of the following things.

-Click on the magnifying glass in the very top right hand corner of your screen and type in "downloads". When the downloads folder appears in the search results, click it, and your downloads folder should appear.

-Click the downloads stack on your dock. Your dock is the row of icons (small pictures) in a row. By default, the dock is on the bottom of the screen. The downloads stack should be on the right hand side of your dock. In order to tell which one is your downloads, just mouse over (move your mouse arrow on top) and the labels will appear. When you have located your downloads stack, click it to see your most recent downloads. or if you want to see all of your downloads click the arrow on the top that says "open in finder" or "# more in finder".

-Click on the finder icon on your dock (the blue smiley face). In the sidebar of the finder you'll see your name with a little picture of a house to it. Click on that. After you click on your name, in the main window you should be able to locate a folder called downloads. Click on that folder and all of your downloads will be there.

If you were looking for your list of downloads in Safari you can open Safari and select the "Window" menu at the top of the screen and click on "Downloads" in the drop-down menu.
