How do you drain transmission fluid in 1999 dodge ram van?
The transmission pan is carefully loosened and the front dropped so as to drain out the fluid. Filter and fluid should be changed. The rear band adjustment (if vehicle is used in severe service, as most ARE!) is located under the filter and should only be tinkered with by a professional.
you change the manual transmission fluid in a '99 cavalier simply by removing the transmission drain plug and allowing all the fluid to drain then replace the plug and refill with Syncromesh transmission fluid(that is the fluid recommended by Chevy for use in your transmission) It should take 2 quarts.
Many automatic transmission do not have drain plugs. You drain the ATF by removing the transmission fluid pan. If you are changing the ATF, you should pull the pan anyway, to replace the ATF filter. You will also need a new pan gasket. If there is an ATF drain plug, it will be located in the transmission fluid pan, on the bottom of the transmission.
