You can drain the water by the use of a submersible portable pump and hoses.

Another way is to take the pools vacuum hose and jamb it into the hole under the leaf basket in the static skimmer, as long as there is not too much air being sucked in that should go a long way, Just make sure the hose is full of water when you start
