The spelling is "gilded altar". You take bones, or certain special ashes (popular choices are dragon bones and infernal ashes), then right-click on a bone/ash and USE it on the altar. This alone will increase the prayer experience per bone (or ash) by a factor 2.5. However, if you light both burners first (requires 2 marrentil and a tinderbox), you will get a factor 3.5 out of the same bones or ashes.
First, get an air talisman to get actually get into the altar. Second go to west of Varrock, near Sigurd the canoe maker and click on the talisman, select use, and click on the mysterious ruins. Then you shoud be able to go to the altar.
Depending on which alter you are talking about you enter rune-crafting alters with the associated talisman or tiara that is enchanted with the talisman. You cannot enter any other alters.
In someones player owned house with high level construction.
Depends on If your burying it or using Player Owned Guilded altar with both burners lit. Burying it alone will give you 75 Experience. Using the altar with burners lit will give you 252 Experience.
On average, per hour with no pak yak you can use about 1k bones on a guilded altar, with a pak yak, at least double or up to 7k bones!

Guilded is the most, Zammy is the second, and Guth is the least. Guilded is rune armor that looks gold. Zamorak is red- trimmed. Everyone knows that Guthix is green- trimmed. Gold- trim is the cheapest of all.
There is an altar at almost every major city in Runescape and players with over 25 Construction should have a player owned one. --------------------- Player owned one however are the only ones that you can use bones on to receive even more exp than burying. the better the altar, the more the exp, the best altar is Gilded Altar.
Tiaras are a type of clothing in the game, RuneScape. They can be binded to a runecrafting altar, and you will get a themed tiara of that altar. for example, air tiara. And then it can be used to have one click access to the altar, and you don't need a talisman.
