List the numbers from least to greatest. Count in from both ends the same times and you will note there is no middle number, but 2 middle numbers. Take the average of the 2 middle numbers and that is the mean of the set.
First, you order all the numbers in the set in order. Next, you find the very middle number in the set. Example: 1 3 8 10 19 8 is the median because the set is in order and it is the middle number.

The fact that two of the four numbers are identical in no way changes the way you would find the median.
