How do you find the slope betwen two points?

(y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) Ex. slope between (1,2) and (5,6) (6-2) / (5-1) = 4 / 4 = rise over run this means that starting at point (1,2), you move four units in the positive y direction (up) and four units in the positive x direction (right) or (3,2) and (-4,-6) (-6-2) / (-4-3) = -8 / -7 = rise over run this means that starting at point (3,2), you move eight units in the negative y direction (down) and seven units in the negative x direction (left)
