MATCH UP THE DOT ON THE FACE OF CAM GEAR WITH THE V NOTCH ON THE BACK OF THE TIMING COVER ON THE TOP. MATCH UP THE V NOTCH ON THE CRANK PULLEY WITH THE POINTER ON THE TIMING COVER TO THE RIGHT OF THE PULLEY LOOKING THRU THE WHEELWELL BEHIND THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE. IT IS EASIER TO SEE IF YOU TAKE OFF THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE & THE SPLASH SHIELD THAT BOLTS TO THE INNER FENDER & ONE BOLT BY THE BACK OF THE LOWER CONTROL ARM
A 1989 Pontiac Le Mans has a pair of sprockets. These sprockets are typically marked with alignment marks. One can use a wrench to align these marks, then use a pulley to set the belt on the sprockets.
timing marks 1993 yoyota Camry 2200
there are no timing marks on a timing belt. the marks are on the timing gears and yes you can find the pictures needed in a workshop manuel
Marks are grooves that are cast into the camshaft sprocket and rear cover. crankshaft pulley has notch must be aligned with 10 degree btbc mark (metal plate with #'s) before timing belt is removed
it has timing marks on it, look!
On the harmonic balancer/driverside

where are timing marks on 89 ford probe 4 cylinder I have the bottom not the top
There are no timing marks on the water pump.the only timing marks are on the crankshaft and camshaft gears. And if you're working on a quad-four engine as I suspect you are,you will need to line up the holes in the cam sprockets with the holes in the block and insert pins to hold them in place. The correct size drill bits will work good for this if you don't have the special GM tool.
They are on the harmonic balancer but are they on the drivers side or on the passenger side?
If memory serves me correctly, the timing marks will be behind the timing belt cover. There will be marks on the gears and also marks on the block. Line the top gear with the top mark and the bottom gear with the bottom mark. Please note that you will need to undo the battery for a few minutes and then reconnect. This allows the computer to reset itself. Hope this helps
the marks are very vague and hard to see, the timing is a little more complicated than some this size. Its supposed to be 10 degrees out and the cam has an awkward hole that has to be straight up. the other timing marks on the intermittent and the crank should be facing each other, still the marks are hard to see on them so be careful and good luck. If you add chalk to where the timing marks are on the crankshaft with chalk and wipe the excess off, this will make the timing marks easier to see. The marks are recessed in the crank and the chalk will fill them up. Hope this helps you!
chain, to the best of my knowledge belts were never used on the 3800.
Timing marks? There is a timing mark on the main crankshaft pulley as well as marks on the timing belt cover to line it up with. There is also marks on the cam gear, with the #1 and that arrow being most important, as well as an arrow or other mark on the cylinder head to line it up with. All of these need to line up in order for the timing to be correct. Then the distributor can be moved left or right to fine tune the timing to spec.. -Shaun
There typically isn't any timing marks at the distributor. It is possible to slightly advance or retard the ignition (spark) timing by rotating the distrubitor but as far as timing marks go, the only that you will find will be right above the camshaft sprocket and the harmonic balancer (crankshaft pully). possible one more for the oil pump or countershaft.

Possible heat soak of the starter or the timing is set too high.
