On a 1978 Nova I believe it is a 350 or a 305 V-8. The fuel pump is located on the passenger side at the front of the block below the alternator. there should be 2 bolts holding this thing on. there should also be 2 to 3 gas lines coming out of it. You must disconnect these first. Make sure your battery is disconnected before starting this procedure. remove the two bolts that hold the pump on. Make sure you have the new pump and gasket before you start. Once off the engine there is a pushrod inside the fuel pump boss that runs off the cam that must be pushed back up into place before you reinstall the new pump.

If you look under the drivers side of the dash, to the left of the steering column there is a rectangular box with a bunch of the old style cylinder fuses. Hopefully thats what your looking for if you havent found it yet
