You can fix a gap by using a composite resin (tooth colored filling material)on the front surfaces of your teeth. You may also choose to have veneers placed on the teeth. Or the most drastic and expensive aproach is to have dental implants. You need to discuss all orthodontic options with your orthodontist before choosing these cosmetic options. He or she can only tell you if there are no other orthodontic treatments for you.

Why do people brush carefully while wearing braces?
They don't want the braces to break or to be damaged. They also want to make sure that they clean the whole tooth and not just part of the tooth.
How is a tooth pulled down into place when wearing braces?
Well they attach a bracket to the impacted tooth and then attach a chain to that bracket and then to your wire on your braces. Every time you go to the orthodontist, they remove a link in the chain and in before you know your tooth will break through the gum. I had this done about two years ago.

They would have to remove your braces and then put them back on after fixing the problem.
