How do you fix a poor acceleration and idling problem?
I experienced poor acceleration in my '95 Chevy blazer, which eventually became so severe that when accelerating, the engine nearly stalled. It turned out that my catalytic converter was disintegrating, and choking off the exhaust so severely that the backpressure was causing engine retardation. I took the vehicle to a muffler shop, where they performed a backpressure test on the exhaust to diagnose the problem. After replacing the catalytic converter, the problem was corrected.
91 Ford Festiva L Check engine light on car idles a little rough slow acceleration car is drivable fast acceleration car dies or backfires Ford Dealer had car 5 wks can't fix need help hard 8 code?
Not sure what a hard code 8 means for a Festiva, but you can probably find a Haynes or Chilton Manual at your local library and get some understanding of the problem - whether you try to fix it yourself or have a mechanic fix the problem. I had a similar problem with a 1987 Cavalier and it turned out to be a bad catalytic converter. - Good luck. have you tried changing the spark…
It sounds very much lke you have a leaking vacuum hose. Either it has deteriorated and needs replacing or it has come off its fitting. Carefully check the engine compartment in an effort to locate the source of the hissing sound. When you do repair or replace the hose you will probably cure the source of your idling (and hihssing) problem(s).
Others claim to have experienced idling problems with their GTO's aswell before their its' engine computer learned the new flow of the LS1Speed intake. Initially, the car had a bit of a hesitation to startup when the key was turned, but that issue went away as the computer learned. Probably the most noticeable effect the system had was that it made the intake snarl much more audible, which is always a plus.
I have the same problem off and on. I changed the fuel filter on it but what really helped was fuel injector cleaner. I'm going to put in a new wireset and spark plugs and clean the distributor caps. So basically a tune up will fix the stalling problem, it will also fix any rough idling and hesitating you might be having. First try the cleaner and see what happens.
What causes a speedometer to lose acceleration response but still eventually get to the correct speed?
Why your 1992 Nissan 300 ZX twin turbo engine oil dip stick pops out on heavy acceleration and throws out the engine oil with smoke?
Your car is sputtering when you try to accelerate and it also dies when it ildles for too long can someone tell you what you need to fix or replace?
spray carb cleaner in the air intake chamber and clean out a little. I had the same stalling problem and this hasn't been a problem since. Toyota dealer diagnosed the problem as a faulty emissions sensor or something like that which translated to a $2,000 estimate. I went to a great mechanic in North Plains, OR and he put his computer system in and it had an error code for a Lexus which he searched…
