I had an issue with the EGR valve. My check engine light came on so I went to Advance Auto to have a free diagnostic check done. The EGR valve message came up. The associate sold me a can of Seafoam, I think its 8 oz., he told me to pour the entire can into my gas tank with a full tank of gas and that would clean the valve and the engine light would go away. It didnt go away until a week later because it took the entire contents in my tank to go through the EGR valve before it was totally cleaned. IT WORKED GREAT! You have to do this and you will be set. Let me know in a week when it is fixed.

according to the emissions label it does not have an EGR valve.

There is no EGR valve on this generation of Corolla. This engine is equipped with VVT-i (variable valve timing with intelligence), that allows it to perform the function of EGR without the former EGR hardware.

The Geo Prism and Toyota Corolla were assembled in the same factory on the same assembly line using the same engines. The EGR valves should be virtually identical.

The EGR is the acronym for exhaust gas recirculation valve. The 1993 Cutlass Ciera does not come equipped with an EGR valve.
