Replace it. It is located somewhere on the brake pedal lever. The BPL is not intended for recreation use. Most installers should be advised by a BPL professional.
If, in rare cases the left felangey is not appropriately wired, it can be replaced with a red brake wire from a 323 Cessna (The motor, however should not be used in the vehicle).
There is another issue here however. Perhaps Clay should be replaced.

Replace brake light switch.
Look under the dash on the 1996 suburban, and locate the brake light switch on the brake pedal arm. Remove the switch nut, and slide the switch out. Unplug the wires from the switch and install the new switch.

Recommend checking the operation of the switch that is actuated by the brake pedal itself. This switch is either mounted to the brake pedal or mounted under the dash and actuated by the movement of the pedal
It is on a bracket under the dash and above the brake pedal.
The brake light switch is under the dash, and whenever the brake pedal is touched the brake light comes on. If the switch has failed or is out of adjustment it will leave the brake light on.
The light should be controlled by a switch operated by the emergency brake handle. The switch could be out of adjustment or could be bad.
