On my wifes 2003 escape the cable from the cruise control actuator had slipped off the throttle body. The clip cracked so i replaced the cable. It was only $30 and easy to do.

Check the cruise control for the Prelude first. Then check the cruise relay, any linkages, and the vacuum lines. If these are ok, then run a computer code check to see if any codes show up. A code issue could cause the cruise to not operate properly.

You probably will need a schematic at the very least. A body computer or engine computer analyzer would be very helpful. This unit would be used to examine the different switches used in the cruise control to see if they were functioning correctly. With just a schematic, it can be troubleshooted with a DVM or high impedance voltmeter, but it will take longer to find the problem.

Find out what's wrong, then repair it or replace it. There, that was simple. And the fact is, that's what ALL repairs are about. Cruise control problems are often quite simple, such as a faulty brake light switch or cruise control activation switch or even a poorly adjusted cruise control module. But you'll need to start looking at the individual components and find out which part isn't doing what it's SUPPOSED to be doing.
