make sure the trunk weather stripping is in perfect condition. water runs down the trunk and right into the tail light printed circuit/bulb sensor. if you open the trunk and water runs out that's a good indicator that weather stripping needs some attention. depending on how long water has been involved, freezing, road salt and chemicals. the circuit boards may need to be replaced
You could check the fuse box under the hood. More than likely the fuse is blown because all of those items should be on the same circuit. I own a 2000 Honda Accord and received a safety recall from Honda concerning the instrument lights for the 2000 & 2001 Accord LX coupe.

Are you sure they are all in order? There are 4 tail light bulbs on an S40, if one of them is out the warning light will come on even though it appears that no bulbs are out. Have a closer look!
Exercise equipment weights usually don't have a safety warning label on them. Most the time the work out equipment its self bares these safety instructions.
As a safety/warning device.
Most likely it is. I have had several neutral safety switch issues before, and it sounds like what happened to me. If you put it in reverse do the reverse lights light up? If not that is also a safety switch problem.
There is none.
No. that's why there are oil guages & warning lights. Some driver interaction is required in car upkeep.
because of safety
Honda cars are usually good quality, and the 2000 Accord is quite safe. On the Cars website they have a Safety Rates and Crash Test Ratings section which give the 2000 Honda Accord 4 stars and an "acceptable" overall rating.

Only the front lights stay on for safety. You need to turn on your lights to get the back lights to come on. To turn off the front safety lights just push your emergency brake on one click.
