Generally lactation will stop when there is a lack of sufficient stimulation. If a nursing mother does not have her child breast feed often enough or replace the child's suckling with another source of stimulation such as a breast pump, then the body reacts to this lack of demand by producing less and less breast milk. Another reason for a lactation to stop is if the nursing mother suffers from a poor diet or other medical malady. A woman's body does not have a timer that turns off lactation. As long as the lactating woman has regular prolonged nipple stimulation and a good diet she will continue to produce breast milk.

∙ 11y agoLess feedings. If you feed one time every 2 hours, then start trying to wait till 2 1/2 - 3 hours. Keep waiting alittle longer every few day. Use cabbage in Brandon to help reduce swelling:)
