In Final Fantasy 1 Bahamut can be found on the Cardia Islands. To reach the islands, fly roughly north from the Temple of Fiends until you see a number of narrow islands with cave openings on them. Bahamut can be found on the forested island with two caves, via the southern most opening.
You can get him on either disc three or four, by fighting him.
To fight him, just travel to the remote island, the Deep Research Center. Once you land the Ragnarok there, travel up to the base entrance. You'll see a sudden flash of green radiance. That's Bahamet triggering it.
When the flashing stops, move towards the center of the room. Stop when the room starts to flash again. Keep doing this process until you finally get to Bahamet.
Your Conversation With Him:
I. It's not our will to fight!
II. Never!
III. (Select the hidden third option.) None of your business.
-
After the conversation ends, your battle with the legendary foe will commence. If you have any questions be sure to navigate your way around Gamefaqs.com. I'm sure they have plenty of answers for you.
Bahamut is dropped by the Boss Red Dragon in the Ruins of the Ancients.
Neo-Bahamut is found walking down the path of the Whirlwind Maze.
Bahamut ZERO is made from the Blue Huge Materia, found in Fort Condor, when you take the 3 other Huge Materia from Corel, the Underwater Reactor near Junon, and Th Shin-Ra Rocket. The catch is you MUST have the Bahamut and Neo Bahamut Materia.
The Bahamut Summon Materia is found in the Temple of the Ancients after defeating the Red Dragon.
You must find the Rat's Tail at the Citadel of Trials, east of the Cardian Islands (they have a bunch of holes in them) and take it to Bahamut (he's in one of the holes in the Cardian Islands).
In order to be promoted in Final Fantasy 1, you must complete the Castle of Ordeals on the Northern Continent. Upon completing it, you are awarded a rat tail. The king of the dragons, Bahamut, on the Cardia Islands will reward you with higher ranking job classes if you take the tail to him.
