See Google. There are two answers to your question. [1] If you want to see maps that historians have traced the battles of WW2, I would recommend the Center for Military History. They have a website that has history of various campaigns and maps to show the progress and movements of the armies. [2] If your question relates to real maps used by soldiers during the war, then you have to really search for them. I have a collection of maps printed by the US Government during WW2. You can also see some of the original intelligence maps at the National Archives (NARA) at College Park MD.

One method is to take one thread sample from the map and burn it. Rayon will melt but silk will burn. Most "silk" maps made in WW2 were actually rayon. A few of the early maps were silk and these were usually crude maps and not in color. In 1943 the British also began using viscose rayon and cuprammonuium, a form of rayon commonly known asBemberg silk or copper rayon. The following site identifies most of the escape maps used by the Americans and many of those used by the British. http://www.escape-maps.com/

There is a much easier way to play as Boss General Leang without having to download a mod. Use a program like FinalBig to extract INIZH.BIG's contents in Zero Hour's main directory. Open "ChallengeMode.ini" in the INI folder, scroll down to the block labeled "GeneralPersona9" and change "StartsEnabled = no" to "StartsEnabled = yes". That's all you need to do. If you want to play as General Leang in the Challenge mode, you would need to download a mod since there is no AI support for her in Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour's maps (except for her own map). For mods, try Pro:Gen, Shockwave, and others at http://commandandconquer.filefront.com or http://www.moddb.com

Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortes' accomplishments were more political than cartographic. He mostly worked to conquer the Aztec empire and bring Mexico under Spanish control, which he did successfully.
He was busy playing with armies on maps. That, or busy bullying his generals for not following his orders. Hitler made sure he never came too close to war again after having survived WW I.
