Not sure what your question is exactly but I will try my best to answer it.

If you have accidentally deleted files:

  • Open your recycle bin, click on the deleted file/s and select "restore", or,

If in doubt, please take you computer to a reputable computer repair shop.

If this is not your personal computer, DO NOT follow these steps!

  • You can use "Data Recovery Software" to recover deleted files
  • System restore might also work and here is how to do it:
  1. Click on "Start" then "Run"
  2. In the box that opens up type: msconfig then hit enter
  3. A window (System Configuration Utility) will open up and select the "General" tab
  4. Click on the "Launch System Restore" button below then follow the instructions

If want to move files from external media back onto your computer:

  1. Open the external media and open the location on your computer where you would like to move the files to
  2. Click on the file/s you would like to move then drag and drop it in the computers folder you have selected
  3. You can also right-click a file and select copy, then right click on a location on you computer's drive then select paste.

If you did back up your files you must have used a backup program. Must use the same program to recover your files. UNLESS you have just copied into a drive then recopy them back.

Why is your computer asking you to format a memory stick that has been used on it before and on which lots of work is saved?

It could be because you have corrupted files on it. Try using it on a different computer if you have one. If it works on a separate computer, just move all of the files off of it, format it on the computer it doesn't work with and then just move the files back onto it. This has happened to me before and that seemed to do the trick.

What is the difference between saving a file on the computer than on the cloud?

Cloud storage - gives you access to copies of your files from anywhere on the planet. This removes the need for copying files to (for example) a pen-drive. Additionally - storing files on your computer, means that you need to take steps to prevent theft of the equipment. Backing-up your files to the cloud - means that - if your computer ever gets stolen, you can restore all your files from the cloud - back onto a new computer.

How can you put your files onto an external hard drive from a computer you are unable to log on to?

There are hard drive interface devices for not much money that will copy the files off of the hard drive--onto another computer. The adapters are called 2.5" External Enclosures, and are readily available.AnswerYou pretty much don't. If you can't log on to the computer, you can't access the files. If it's your computer, you might be able to remove the drive and attach it to another computer and access the files that way.
