How do you get from Brisbane to Hampton island?
Fraser Island, the world's largest sand island, lies off the southeast coast of Queensland, about three and a half hours' drive north of Brisbane. You can access Fraser Island through tour operators with a 4WD vehicle from Noosa (about 2 hours drive north of Brisbane), or by ferry from either Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach.
Bishop Island was created in the early 1900's with dredge spoil from the new channel cutting for entry to the Brisbane river. the cutting was made by the dredge Hercules,commanded by captain Bishop after whom the man made island was named.
