In order to get an interview with a modeling agency, the agency has to first take an interest with you. This could happen through receiving your images and information via email or snail mail. Or you may have made a good impression on an agency if you attended one of their open casting calls. Being scouted by a model is also another way to get an interview with an agency. Other than that, you cannot simply call an agency and request an interview.

When you interview with an agency, it is important to dress simply. A solid colored tank top or form fitting t-shirt with form fitting jeans and heels is ideal. Avoid wearing busy patterns, stripes, dots, brand names, logos, or other distracting images. Wear your hair how you normally would, just make sure it is out of your face. Wear little to no makeup.

In the interview the agency will ask a few questions to get to know you better and to get an idea of your personality. Bubbly, outgoing and genuine smiles are a must. Avoid talking too much and provide concise answers. The most common questions they'll ask include:

- Who do you want to be a model?

- What are your strengths/weaknesses?

- How do you handle rejection?

- What are your plans for the future?

- Why do you think you would be a good fit for our agency?

If you are interested in being a runway model they will ask you to do a runway walk. It doesn't have to be perfect--they just want to see how your body moves naturally. The agency will usually take some quick Polaroids of you and have you fill out all your statistics and measurements and then that will be it. If they are interested, they will contact you with a few days to a week (this can vary).

In general, it is important to contact modeling agencies that are in your area. The rule of thumb is to seek out agencies that are within a 2 hour's drive of where you live. Any further and you may have to decide if you want to relocate in order to be closer.

Modeling agencies are busy people and won't have time to answer your questions so phone calls are not encouraged. Instead, check out their website (if they have one...it's better if they do) and there will almost always be a section devoted to how to contact them, send in your pictures, when open casting calls are held, etc). Read through their FAQ page thoroughly so that you are aware of what to do and not do. Many agencies state whether they want professional or non professional photos so that is important to take note of as well since this can save you time and money.

Some modeling agencies allow you to submit your information them via email or by snail mail. Follow whichever method they prefer. Do not drop by an agency unexpected to "talk" to anyone unless it is during their open call, which is a specific day and time during the week where the agency will allow any and all aspiring models to come in for an evaluation without an appointment.

In the UK a good resource is Alba Models website (Google Alba models) as it lists the genuine as well as the scam model agencies and gives lot of useful advice.

The first step is to find out what type of modeling you meet the requirements for. If you are 5'5"-5'7" then you can do commercial/print. 5'8"-6'0" is for fashion/runway/editorial modeling. Male models are typically required to be between 5'9"-6'2".

Having agency representation is the best way to break into the industry and book the highest paying work. To find an agency do an online search according to your city/state and browse through each agency's official website. The website will list the type of models they represent, the specific requirements and how to submit yourself. You will also find contact information. Send in your photos or attend an open casting call and if you are what they are looking for, they will invite you for an interview, offer you a contract and begin developing your modeling career.

Freelance modeling is also an option but this means putting together your own portfolio and finding your own work. This is done by networking and working with photographers, using casting websites and other online resources to give yourself exposure.

Lowrider is not a modeling agency. They normally cast girls through open calls that are conducted through the magazine company itself. Its art director is often the person who arranges this. Send an email to the magazine and ask how you can submit pictures or simply mail them your photos and contact information to the address provided. Also check the website for any model searches or casting call information the site may be hosting.

You have to get the interest of an agency before you can sign a contract. You can either be scouted or gotten an interview after submitting photos or attending an open casting call. Once an agency is interested in you, they will sit down and discuss the process and also offer you a contract for you and your parents (if you are underage) to review. No legit agency will ask for money upfront (although they will be allowed to after you have signed the contract but not before), or pressure you to sign up for classes or training that you have to pay for.

To play it safe, have a lawyer read over the contract for you and be sure to ask any questions you may have or for clarification for anything in the contract that you do not understand.

Legit agencies will allow you to take the contract home to look it over and will not pressure you to sign right then and there, although they will not give you a whole lot of time to think the matter over.

Using the internet to do an online search is currently the easiest way to find modeling agencies. It is best to do your search according to the city/state you live in so that you find local agencies. Most do not want models to live far away because they often submit models for last minute castings and will not cover travel costs for castings and go-sees.

You can use the Internet to do an online search for talent agencies and modeling agencies. To keep your search relevant, you should look for agencies within your city and state. Once you get your results, go through the agency websites, which will give you all the information you'll need to know, such as when open casting calls are and what kind of photos to submit.

It is best to submit to agencies that are within a 2 hour's drive from where you live unless you'll be willing to relocate.

One way to get into promotional modeling is to look up promotional modeling agencies online. Many simply require you to create a profile, upload photos and your information at no charge. When events in need of promotional models are in your city/state, the company will let you know and give you information for how to submit to that event.
