Confidence votes are gained when a user clicks the "Yes" button underneath the answer when asked "Was this answer useful".

You cannot give yourself confidence votes. Each user can only vote on each answer once, even if the option to vote shows on an answer you've already voted on, only the first vote you made will count.

Confidence votes are the number of times someone has clicked "Yes" when asked "Was this answer useful?".

You can find the "Was this answer useful?" box at the bottom of any answers.
Each time someone finds your answers helpful, they will press "yes". When they press "yes", the person who provided the useful answer gets a confidence point. It's a way of showing off how helpful a contributor has been to someone.

Make sure you give fantastic answers here that are detailed but not off topic. Then your confidence votes will soar. These are helpful for developing your reputation in the community and for generating interest in your business, if you have one, which you are welcome to mention on your personal Answers.com profile.

You can only vote once on each answer. Even if the vote box appears after you've already voted, only the first vote you already made will count.
