so I'm friends with this guy i like and hes a year older than me. my friend said he goes to her SSunday school and that he is really mean to everyone. i asked him if that was true and when he asked who said that so i said her name. i told him that i sent her a text saying to f@#$ off even though i didn't. i told her i was sorry after i told her what i did and said i would fix it. i told him that she meant someone else. i never told her bout the text message thing but he told me to tell her to text him and now I'm afraid I'm gonna get caught and he will never like me and she will hate me. i know this seems awful. What should i do?

∙ 14y agoWell, it is always good to tell the truth. Depending on how big the lie was, the truth is always going to come out either way, so it's best if you just get it over with. If this person you lies to cares about you, they should understand why you lied. They may be mad for some time, but if you are a kind person and a trustworthy friend, everything will work out in the end. Tell them, "I need to talk to you in private." Once you get the person to be alone, say, "I have to tell you something. I lied when I said..." That's where you say what the lie you told was. Then say the truth. "The truth is..." Then, if you want, you can try to make them feel bad about being mad at you, but only if they are upset. "You can be mad at me if you want." Give them what they want at first. It also makes you come off as sincere. "But, really, what will being mad do? I'll be upset because you are mad at me, and you'll be grumpy all the time because you're always mad." Yes christians should always tell the truth. It all depends upon on the situation you are in.Sometimes telling the truth as god commands you to do can bring you a whole lot more trouble and grief than just telling a simple lie. An example of this logic is say,you see someone commit a crime and the police ask you if you saw them do it now of course your going to tell the truth and you would be right to do so and the worse that happens is you have to show up in court and testify,so it was worth telling the truth. Now say your girlfriend or wife who is overweight says to you "Do you think my butt is big and fat?" should you tell her the truth as you are commanded to do and say "yes you do have a big fat butt" and take a chance that she will start crying and/or get mad at you and accuse you of being a mean,inconsiderate and uncaring jerk or would you lie and say "no your butt is not big or fat"? There are times when a lie is required and the truth should not be told a few such examples are when people ask "Isn't this babies face just so cute?" and to you the child is ugly. "do I look fat?" and to you the person is FAT "do you think I'm pretty?" and the person is not physically appealing to you at all. "do you like my suit/dress?" and its the ugliest thing you have seen since the 70's "don't you just adore my new shoes?" and to you those shoes look like they came off a circus clown.. So to follow biblical law and go around telling the truth all the time you will definitely hurt the feelings of other people and probably be labeled as a mean,rude, spitefull, nasty, uncarring and disrespectful person and probably will not have very many friends even among the christians...
Can you be a Christian and not telling?
You can be a Christian and don`t tell people if it results in something bad, but don`t deny if someone asks, for example, if your a Christian scientist, don`t go around telling people that because they say it effects ``the truth`` and you could get fired because you would not agree with non-Christian things like evolution, big bang, etc. It also might be good to hold it in in a place that you could be killed for being a Christian.
