How do you prevent snakes from entering your house?

Thick hemp rope will work and if you don't have pets or very small children around then glass stucco (2 inches wide) around the perimeter of the house (same as the hemp rope.) Snakes have soft under-bellies and don't like the feel of either of these products. In some places in India they use hemp rope.
The best way to get rid of the snakes is to make sure your back yard is not Snake Heaven. Keep the clutter down. No piles of wood or leaves, nothing they can nest in or hide under. Keep the grass mowed so they don't get comfortable hanging out in it. Also, take care of any rodent or insect problems quickly. Make sure you seal up any holes that they can get through.

Moth balls can be bought at the dollar store or another store. Hammer them to smaller pieces when in the bag (optional from having round balls lying around). Spread around house. - They do not like the smell and will get away from it.

I had snakes in my basement once. I called in a snake catcher but he couldn't find any. I caught his $60 bill though. I asked him, "What can I do?". He told me to buy the rat glue traps and place them along the walls of the basement. - So I did. No snakes were caught. - Lots of crickets.
