i had the same problem and felt like an idiot when i figured it out, opent the trunk, you'll see a couple of screws on top of the brake light, unscrew them, here's the part that got me, there is no cover, the entire housing is once piece, so grab a couple screw drivers and "pop" the housing out of the car, there are a coupld of plastic clips that hold it in place, when your done changing the bulbs or whatever your doing just pop it back in place and put the screws on
You have to go inside the trunk and remove the circular plastic covers from behind the lights. Then you have to unscrew the entire light and you can access the bulbs to replace them.

you DO NOT disassemble the lens cover!!!! Open the hatch, and you will see small access panels directly behind the taillights that open. Just open the panel and take the bulb out.

Pop the trunk, behind where the brake lights are, there is probably a plastic/rubber cover with screws in it, remove it, and then there should be some screws holding the lens in place, remove those, pull the brake light lens from the outside of the car, twist the wires to undo them from the lens, and go from there.
