How do you get the dash apart to install Cd player in a 1998 Cavalier?
i have a 1998 2 door cavalier, 5spd. i never took the dash apart. to my remembrance all i did was remove two screws on the underside right above where the front change dish is and pop the bottom out a little. once the cover is popped off you'll see a bunch of hex screws holding the factory deck in place. in my vehicle i had a radio and no tape deck, remove them and the factory deck should slide out. advise getting a wiring harness, GM's wiring is shoddy. my first mistake was clipping all the wires and hard-wiring my first cd-player. good luck :)
To change the shift linkage in an 1998 automatic Chevy Cavalier the shift linkage needs to be removed from the transmission and pulled from the cabin. The job requires removing the floor console to access the cable. After doing the so the cable can be snaked from inside the cabin, the install is the reverse of the removal.
