How do you recruit the legendary birds in Pokemon Red rescue team?

You must have all 16 gym badges (Johto and Kanto) in order to encounter the birds. Articuno is at the bottom of Seafoam Islands (where Blaine's gym has moved), Zapdos is standing outside of the Power Plant near Cerulean City, and Moltres is in Mt. Silver (from what I've heard).
Like all legends, the three birds are very hard to catch. Don't worry if you defeat them without catching them, they will reappear in their spots once you redo the Pokemon League and beat the Elite 4 (which should be incredibly easy after all the levels you have raised when beating the Kanto Leaders).
To catch them you must either paralyze or put them to sleep. Paralyzing may not work on Zapdos since he is an Electric type, but that's what I'm guessing. Then deplete their health to the smallest you can. Then throw an Ultra Ball or a Dusk Ball (at night) at them. Hopefully you should be able to catch them or if you can't then use Master Balls, which you should use the one that Proffessor Elm gave you or go win the lottery in the Radio Tower.

Arictuno: he was hard it took tons of ultra balls
Moltres: it was KINDA easy it took some ultra balls
remember u need THOUSANDS OF ULTRA BALLS IF U ONLY HAVE POKEBALLS AND SUPER BALLS GOOD LUCK

∙ 10y agoTo recruit the three legendary birds in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, you must have defeated Rayquaza. With the plot completed, you are then free to recruit the birds, which may prove impossible without help. I suggest going to Zapdos first, because out the three he is the weakest and most likely to join your team. Then go to Moltres or Articuno, but even though their likeliness to join you is the same, Moltres is weaker. I am aware of no type weakness of Zapdos except for Rock and Ice, Moltres is weak to Water, Electric & Rock and Articuno is weak against Fire, Rock, Electric and Steel.
Two things make it possible for these birds to be easily recruited; one is an item and two is your level. If your lead Pokemon is on level 90 or above, recruiting should be easier for you. An item called 'Friend Bow' (obtainable on Mt Faraway 30F), when equipped to your lead Pokemon, makes it a whole lot easier to recruit Pokemon - including the three birds.
Also keep in mind that your team cannot take more than four Pokemon per dungeon and the combined weight cannot go over six stars.
Another way to get the Friend Bow is through Wonder Mail. Just go to the menu when you have just turned on the game and choose Wonder Mail. Then enter the password given below and you will get a mission in your Job List. Complete and you will get a Friend Bow!

∙ 13y agoTo get the legendary birds in heartgold/soulsilver you have to have all 16 gym badges
Moltress- located inside mt. silver
Zapdos- located in front of the power plant in cerulean
Articuno- located inside seafoam islands
The legendary birds will appear in these locations after you have gotten all the Johto and Kanto badges

∙ 11y agoYou cannot catch any of the Legendary Birds in Pokémon Diamond so the only options to acquiring the Legendary Birds would be to use the Pal Park option in order to migrate them from a Gameboy Advanced game or you can trade with a game such as Pokémon Platinum, Pokémon HeartGold or Pokémon SoulSilver.

I am absolutely positive of this answer, what you do is recruit Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres and then you talk to Alakazam in the Town Square. He will tell you to go to Legendary Island. The Legendary Birds will give you access to the Silver Trench.
