Pull out bulb. replace bulb and repeat steps in reverse order.
1) open the hood. 2) Carefully remove the three screws holding the headlight assembly in place. In my case the screws were black. Be careful as they are screwed into plastic. 3) Carefully slide the headlight assembly out. At this point you can replace the headlight bulb, turn signal bulb, or the entire headlight assembly. Insert the bulb into the headlight assembly insert the collar and turn clockwise until it locks. 4) Carefully insert the headlight assembly back into place. 5) Replace the three screws removed in step 2 being carefull not to over tighten.
There are three #15 "star" screws on the black plastic just inside the trunk (adjacent and attached to the red plastic signal housing). To replace the front turn signal bulb in a 2005 Montana, you have to access it from the engine compartment. Undo the front headlight assembly as per the instructions noted elsewhere. There is one screw (machine Head) on the outboard side of the headlight assembly, and one 'thumb screw' on the inner side to the assembly. I found it difficult to remove the headlight assembly, and I have found you don't have to. (You can break the housing, so don't try taking it right out) Just loosen it enough to get your hand behind the assembly. I would also suggest you remove the plastic fasteners from the top of the front bezel in order to make loosening the headlight assembly easier, and to prevent the possibility of damaging or breaking the front bezel. The plastic fasteners are easily removed with just a pair of pliers. Once the headlight assembly has been moved forward slightly, you can get your hand down the opening, and feel for the turn signal lamp assembly. Twist to remove. There is enough wire in the harness to bring the lamp assembly to 'the surface' where you can replace the bulb easily. Replace bulb and test. After testing, replace headlight, and then plastic fasteners at the top of the front bezel.
It all depends on which bulb you are talking about. A headlight bulb is installed from the back of the headlight assembly. A turn signal bulb on the front is installed from the back of the lens assembly. A rear brake light/turn signal bulb is installed by taking the lens assembly off the car and pulling the socket out to replace the bulb. If you need a bulb in the instrument cluster you have to take the cluster out of the car. This is done by dropping the steering column to take the cluster out. If you want to replace a bulb in the side markers it is done by taking the bulb out of the lens assembly from the back. Tag light bulbs are installed by taking the 2 Phillips head screws out and removing the lens then pull the old bulb out and insert a new bulb. To replace a dome light bulb in the interior just pop the plastic lens off.
Remove headlight assembly to access bulb/socket.
Raise hood. There is a long plastic cover across the front end of the engine compartment. Carefully pop out some of the plastic rivets holding the plastic cover. Reach down behind the headlamp area where the turn signal light is located and unscrew bulb holder about 1/8 turn to remove. The bulb can that be twisted out of this socket/holder. Replace with new bulb and replace bulb holder into back of headlamp assembly. Note, the bulb holder is keyed to start in only one position before screwing into place. Replace plastic cover with rivets. ---- SHORT CUT, reach up from under the car, you can grab the bulb. You can't see it while you are doing it but it is much easier than taking plastic cover off
