How do you get the computer to recognize the mouse?

Usually windows uses generic drivers to see a device, so usually when you plug it in

even though it can't run without the drivers, windows will still see it and ask for the drivers.

Could be a bad device. You can try and install the drivers for it and see if windows

sees it after they are installed.

You can also try going to, - start button, control panel, add/remove hardware, after you plug in the device and point windows to the device, follow the directions of the program.

So, to answer your question, usually no matter what you plug in, windows sees that you plugged something in and will ask you for the drivers.

This is based on windows, if your OS is vista, or win 7, it will see most everything.

If your OS is Linux this is different. If someone is running Linux, they probably wouldn't

ask this question because they would know. Windows was designed so people who do not know how to run a computer can. The real operating system is Linux.

In Windows systems, devices that contains files would appear in My Computer or Windows Explorer.

If you need to configure a device, each device would be located in the appropriate area of the Control Panel.

To scan for, disable, or update drivers for any device, the Device Manager can be used.

if it is not recognising your mouse after a wile. turn the PC off. if that not help. the mouse might be broken or not compatible to the PC
