Put your tank in front of a window perhaps, but really if you have lots of other fish it's not a good idea! Get them special food that can make up for the lack of algae. Your tank could overheat if you move it in front of a window with tons of sunlight so be sure your fish can handle somewhat warm temperatures (although really, I don't think that's a good idea.) :)
ducks and sucker fish
Sucker fish typically eat algae, detritus, small invertebrates, and sometimes fish eggs. They use their specialized mouths to attach to surfaces and scrape off the algae and microorganisms.
You obviously did not do your homework when it comes to the fish you have and their needs. Sucker fish do not eat poop or rubbish. (No fish does that) They are tropical fish and they are algae eaters.
It Would probably be a mouthful of algae!
These fish can be taken care of just like most fish out there. Get a tank with a filter and put them in. Feed the Molly tropical flake food and the 'sucker fish' pleco algae tablets.
Any fish with a underslung suckermouth can get labelled as a "sucker fish". The Pleco family consists of more than 800 species getting anything from 1" to close to 40". Then there are lot of other fish with that kind of mouth, including some freshwater Gobies and some types of Cyprinid like the Siamese Algae Eater. And then there are Chinese Algae Eaters too. Basically, there is no one species that is called a "sucker fish"!!
Sucker fish, also known as freshwater algae eaters or plecos, can grow at varying rates depending on the species and environmental conditions. On average, they can grow anywhere from 3 to 6 inches in their first year. Some species may grow even more, particularly in optimal conditions with ample food and space. Regular monitoring and appropriate tank conditions will influence their growth rate significantly.
Algae is fairly easy to grow if you have fish in your aquarium. If you have a new tank though and your algae levels are very low then you want to get hardy fish to start out with. Remember, it is very likely that most of your starting fish will die unfortunately.
Yes, it is in the sucker fish family.
There are many different aquarium animals that will clean algae off the walls of your aquarium. I will name a few: Cories, Plecostomus (AKA, Pleco) and more. There are some algae eaters that are not fish. Mystery snails, freshwater snails, and other water snails eat algae. Ghost shrimp are small and are very easy to take care of. They clean the decorations in your fish tank and eat any uneaten, leftover food.
They are harmless and never chase other fish. They help keep the tank clean by eating the algae. It's good to have one in any aquarium.
A Plecostomus is a Tropical Fish from South America. They are often called "Sucker Fish" because they are seen sucking on the glass. They feed mainly on algae and/or algae wafers when they are kept as pets.
