There are two different types: Mercenary and Formed. Mercenary is when not everyone has the same equipment, you use what you buy. Formed is when everyone has the same equipment (at least on one team) and is used more often in tournaments.
Basically, form two teams of honest people who will admit they were shot, and have maybe 2 shots per death, all shots must be called out. If you "die", you are out and must remain in a safe area for the rest of the game. Have both teams start on opposite sides of an area, with contact for both of them, and start. Last team standing wins.

If you are just starting airsoft i would highly recommend an aeg, (airsoft electric gun) but if you are pro and experienced, a trained camouflaged sniper is the best, an invisible predator. However it does depend on the user of the gun. If you are asking performance wise then g&g makes the best airsoft guns on the market. (currently in the US)
