You may improve your credit score by:

1. Paying your bills on time

2. Keeping your credit card utilization rate at 20% or less.

(Example: If your credit card limit is $1,000, your balance shouldn't be more than $200)

3. Keep a good mix of installment and revolving loans

4. Don't close any old accounts. (even if they are not being used)

5. Limit your credit inquiries to 1 every 6 months.

Credit Score. Everyone tends to rely on Credit History more and more. Recently I tried to order internet for my apartment, and they wanted to check my credit history to see if I need to make a deposit, I personally think it is ridiculous.

To improve your credit you need to change your habits:

  1. Do not spend more than 30% of the credit limit from any given card. This means that If the limit on your credit card is $100, you can't spend more than $30. Otherwise creditors will think that you are desperate and running out of money.
  2. Keep only 2 or 3 credit cards. If you have more than 3, creditors view this as a sign that you don't have control over your finances.
  3. Check your Credit History to see if you have any errors or any derogatory information that's not supposed to be there.
  4. Dispute any information that you feel is inaccurate with each Credit Agency. If you need help with disputes there are websites that helps you with all that. They are usually very affordable and you don't need to have a headache of disputing inaccurate/derogatory items yourself. One of them is grekkosolutions.com.
  5. Learn to save. If you are unable to save, see if you can have money subtracted from your paycheck and put in a different account. Or, set up an automatic transfer, where every two weeks or every week (depending how often you get paid) money is transferred to savings.
