You will have to loosen tentioner to get belt off of all pulleys. Then you need to jack up engine or pick up engine with a lift of some kind, just enough to hold engine in place while you remove upper engine mount, this has to be done so as to slip belt past mount and off engine. Then put new belt in position and bolt mount back in place. Release jack or lift. I usually put belt back on everything but alternator, pull on tensioner and roll back over alternator. This is on a 3100 engine, or 3.1 liter. Hope this helps
Remove belt and tensioner should just be bolted to engine
Maybe $100 tops....
the diagram is in the left corner closest to the passenger seat
how do you install a serpentine belt on a 1996 corsica?
you do not adjust a serpentine belt. the adjustment is done automatically by the tension pulley if belt is loose, purchase a new belt . also check that all pulleys are in good shape before installing new belt
You don't say which engine or year but see my post under "How do you change a serpentine belt on a 93 Buick Skylark" for a possible answer.
Go to a GM dealer's parts department or service department. They would know.
how to install a serpentine belt on 1989 f250 diesel 7.3l
The 1988 Buick Skylark 2.3 liter engine serpentine belt tensioner pulley is held in place with a single retaining bolt. The retaining bolt will be in the center of the pulley. Remove the retaining bolt.
It's on a sticker where the shock absorber is. If it's missing, a GM dealer's service center will have it.
There is a special tool for that. Try a GM dealer's service center. They should know which one it is.
Most serpentine belts can be changed on the side of the road. It is usually an extremely simple procedure.
