As far as what tachs will work: buy a tach that has what is called an "inductive" pickup. this is a clip that you put around a spark plug wire, it will give your tach the signal it needs from the engine. the rest of the basic instructions, even though they wont be for your exact car, will be in the package with the tach.

I have the tachometer adapter but I'm unsure as to where I splice the wires.

A tachometer that shows the wrong reading and get stuck sometimes could be caused by faulty wiring between the transmission and tachometer. It could be caused by a defective instrument cluster.

The instructions should come with the tach. If there are none, get in touch with the manufacturer. no tachometer will work straight out of the box with a cavalier of that year, you must buy an adapter. it will only show half RPM

The coil pack, on a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier, is located on the top of the engine. The coil pack is near the electronic spark distributor.

Yes, a 1997 Chevy Cavalier does have a distributor cap. The distributor does not have points and a condenser. This part is one electronic unit.

The 3100 SFI engines were rated to 160HP, like the 3300 engines were. The 3.1 MultiPort FI were rated at 140HP. Of course, you certainly can swap a 3.1 MPFI engine in your Century, and in my opinion, you would do a very good choice. If a 3.1 MPFI can work in a Chevrolet Cavalier, why wouldn't it work in a Century?

There is no ETF light on a 1996 Chevy Cavalier. But there is an ETS light which stands for 'electronic traction system'. This light turns on where there is a problem with the brake system.

its electronic cause of the distributorless ignition.

If it was a manual trans it was a five speed. If it was an auot then it was a three speed with an electronic overdrive. So with the electronic overdrive it was a four speed trans but the overdrive failed frequently and was disabled by many owners.

Wiring diagram... You should be able to find a shop manual at your local library with the right info...make copies as they are usually only in the REFERENCE section....good luck:)

I fuel injection its underneath near fuel tank, if carb it doesnt have one however depends on the carb type, it may have gauze filter in inlet on carb.

will 2001 2.2 cavalier interchange engine parts with a 2000 cavalier

The address of the Cavalier Public Library is: 106 West 2Nd Ave South, Cavalier, 58220 0634

ETS stands for (Electronic Traction System) or as some call it Traction Control. Your Traction Control is simply turned off.

Toyota doesnt make a cavalier. The cavalier is made by chevrolet.

Are the front driving components(A-arms)from a 1993 Cavalier compatable with a 1990 Cavalier?

In the gas tank. Since cars went from cabs to fuel injection the fuel pump went from a mechanical unit on the engine to one in the gas tank and so a nuisance to replace.

To be cavalier is to show disregard. An example sentence would be: His cavalier attitude was very bothersome to everyone.

The ignition control module is located under the electronic ignition control module cover. On a 1997 2.4L cavalier, it will have the words 2.4L twin cam stamped on it. It is on the top of the engine and is held in place with four bolts. This cover must be removed to get to the spark plugs.

what a cavalier attitude she has got.
